Acyanotic Levoversion in Situs Inversus

A ten-year-old girl with situs inversus, levoversion, ventricular inversion and transposition of the great arteries is reported. The electrocardiogam was compatible with the diagnosis of situs inversus and ventricular inversion. The frontal roentgenogram showed a right-sided ascending aorta in situs inversus which permits the diagnosis of transposition of the great arteries. The angiocardiogram demostrated that the aorta is anterior and right-sided in relation to the pulmonary artery and communicated with the morphologic right ventricle. A subvalvular diaphragmatic pulmonary stenosis was also visualized. The need for establishing a relationship of the visceral situs to the cardiac apex is discussed for the purpose of determining the type of heart malposition. The embryologic developmental disturbances are analyzed.
